Wife

"Only two things are necessary to keep one's wife happy. One is to let her think she is having her own way, and the other is to let her have it."

Married 38 Years

Marriage. To say that you have been married for that amount of years is an accomplishment in itself.
I think we can all agree, committment is not like it used to be.
Growing up, my parents enjoyed travelling and sometimes it was without us.  It never really bothered either of us because it meant sleepovers at our Aunty Joan's, but as a wife myself - I totally get it now.  Children are wonderful, amazing little beings but they can CONSUME your entire life.  And if you don't take the time to appreciate yourselves as a husband & wife, you lose a part of your marriage.  This year for Valentine's day, mom received flowers & an afternoon of whale-watching while vacationing in Hawaii, two thumbs up for my dad!  I don't know about you, but I think most of us received  cards, flowers or dinner. Yes, they are normal people who get annoyed with one another's faults - my dad is going deaf but refuses to believe so and my mom can take 1/2 hour to tell you a 3 minute story.  But it can't be that bad, lasting and remaining married for 38 years.
